GAPs Harmonized Standard: Where are we now? Webinar
Thursday, November 14, 2019 (2pm - 3pm US/Eastern)
This 1-hr webinar is targeted toward any industry stakeholders, including producers and auditors who currently work with the Harmonized, buyers who currently accept Harmonized Certificates, and any other stakeholders who are evaluating their potential use or acceptance of the Harmonized in the future. Registration is particularly encouraged for any stakeholders planning to provide comments on the upcoming revisions.
Nearly a decade ago, the produce supply chain convened with a common vision: identify the core food safety elements required to grow and pack fresh produce and develop a standard that harmonizes existing audit requirements. While the strength of the Harmonized Standard has been increasingly recognized over these past ten years, buyer understanding of the Harmonized remains limited. As the secretariat for the Harmonized Standard, United Fresh is committed to increasing the visibility and strength of the standard. A diverse group of technical produce industry experts recently reviewed and revised the current standard, with a particular focus on food safety-related concerns or perceived deficiencies that have limited buyer acceptance in the past.
We’ll briefly review how the Harmonized is structured, the relationship with GFSI, and the current status of the standard. Then, we’ll explore the revisions that have been proposed for the Harmonized by the Technical Working Group following their September meeting, which will be available for public comment in the near future on the United Fresh website.
