Focus on the fresh-cut sector in Italy
Italy is emerging as one of Europe's leading fresh-cut markets. Sales of fresh-cut fruits and vegetables have been booming in recent years and are now worth some EUR700m annually, second only to the UK in value terms. Hear from leaders in the industry as they discuss the main market trends, new processor products, and the importance of the food service sector.
Fresh-cut and the application of science
Innovation in product, packaging and technology are vital to the continued growth of the fresh-cut convenience sector. Learn how technological research will play a decisive role in the future growth of the fresh-cut convenience sector, especially as the freshness and nutritional value of fruit and vegetable products have a significant impact on market success.
Fresh-cut in the field starts at the seed
Seed suppliers are working on the development of a new breed of fruits and vegetables engineered to meet the special demands of the fresh-cut market. Three of Europe's leading seed producers will be on hand at the FRESHCONEX Congress to discuss the steps they are taking to develop new products specifically aimed at the convenience market. Rens Knieriem from Nunhems, Anton van Dormaelen from Rijk Zwaan and Ton van de Goor from Syngenta Seeds will outline the special challenges involved in the development of seeds for guaranteed success in the fresh-cut business.
The three-day Exhibition - which follows the Congress - will feature product displays from the fruit and vegetable segment, product preparation equipment and technology, packaging and labeling, ingredients and additives, point-of-sale technical accessories and vending machines.
